Next Wednesday meeting will be 13th June at 6 pm. in Rockhampton Library COIN Academy.

My demonstration of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS was easier than I expected, and apparently once I'd managed to "refind" the Distrowatch review, caused a reaction I didn't expect : some of our colleagues are not so concerned now they've seen it demonstrated. Talk about playing "Devil's Advocate"!

I didn't get around to the demo of some USB sticks with both "native" Live CD installs, and Unetbootin created Live environments, maybe next month.

Our next Saturday meeting is set for 26th May from 1 p.m. at C.Q. University Access Grid Room in the IT Building (Building 19).

We seem to have not made any further progress with a Social Media presence for C.Q.L.U.G. I've managed to get a Google+ page started by sticking my name on the centralqld.linux -at- gmail account, but haven't done anything with it yet. I'm assuming I'll have to issue invites or friend everybody ... when I figure it out, you'll all be the first to know! Or perhaps we can collaborate at the meeting, on our Social Media collaboration. Tautology anyone?

We had a further short discussion on an additional Software Freedom Day activity at a shopping centre ... or maybe local markets like the Heritage Centre was discussed last meeting. Nobody was quite sure of the relevant dates, so I'll do a bit of research ASAP.

Belly kept everyone enthralled with further talks on Command Line tools and how to use them, hopefully we'll have more! We could have a bash at some scripting ... ?
