For Ubuntu there is now a great site that packages many major games and provides a brief overview, plus makes them easy to install: http://www.playdeb.net/updates/Ubuntu/all

If you run other distros then playdeb is still worth a look, as there are links to the homepage of each game, many of which have packages or instructions for other distros.
